Jumping someone else's train...

I found a nifty little beginner's guide to music production that I think covers a lot of the initial stuff. This looks like a fun place to start!

Part one talks about the stuff you will probably want to get things rolling.

Part two talks about music software and the variations that can be found.

A nifty little terminology dictionary

See? You can find anything on the internets.

Click here for the dictionary link!

These are all the basic terms you will come across in anything you read about making electronic music. If you click on the terms, you can find other random stuff to read about regarding those terms. Hence, that world wide web concept. I like it! It is a time sucker, tho. This is probably why my cat is looking at me like I need to spend more time with him.

So check out the terms and don't forget to pet your cat (or dog, or hamster, or significant other).

Welcome!

This is gonna be a simple blog to learn music production basics like terminology, what what drum machines and synths and software and all that can do, where you can find more info, and just other random bits and pieces to get you on your way to making music and having fun.

I am no expert. I am just someone who learned by watching, reading and doing. It can seem pretty intimidating at first, but with the internet, there is a whole world of information at your fingertips.

Occasionally I may decide to talk about the issues of being a woman in a male-dominated field, or other random things that come to mind. Let me know what works and what doesn't.

Stay tuned for more info, and please feel free to leave comments and questions so I can help as much as I can.

Also, peruse the links on this page for more info.

Have fun!

Oh and P.S. Here is some cool info from Le Tigre on music gear and stuff. They use more hardware, like drum machines and samplers. So this is a nice breakdown of what that stuff does.
